How does it feel when you start something new? I’m feeling nervous, excited, and eager to get started on a new adventure. In the gym’s fitness office, there are three files in my tray. Three women at the start of their fitness journey. As I looked through each file, I prayed. Weight loss, healthy aging, and post-surgical recovery. Different ages and stages of life. All of which I’ve faced personally. Perhaps that’s why God put these three files in my path. My fitness journey began when I was 50. That was 13 years ago. Over the years, I’ve gone from fitness enthusiast to bodybuilder to athlete to referee to certified personal trainer. I pray that all may go well and I can help them reach their goals.
Is All Well With You?
Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 John 1:2 ESV
So much is going on around the world right now. Whether our stress is over finances, food, or family life, wellness can be impacted as we navigate these issues. When all is well with us, in our bodies and in our souls, we can live to the fullest. And living to the full is why Christ came. (John 10:10)
Is Your Body Healthy?
Over the past few weeks, I’ve written about functional movements found in Scripture. It fascinates me each time I find one tucked into a passage. Our bodies were designed by God to move. I read that we don’t stop moving because of aging; we face issues with aging when we stop moving. And so many of life’s challenges, or can stop us from moving well.
Is Your Soul Well?
As I studied those files, I realized that each woman is carrying more than fitness goals. True wellness begins in the soul. When our hearts are anchored in Christ, we can face challenges with hope, overcome situations through perseverance, and rely on His peace.
That All May Go Well
Behind every goal is her personal story. One could be struggling through discouragement. Another may be rebuilding her confidence. And one may want enough strength to enjoy life again. And if we are honest, don’t we each have a story about trying to become stronger in some areas of our lives?
We don’t have to change our lives overnight. It’s ok to start where we are. We can take one step towards wellness today. Then another tomorrow. God can work in our lives so that all may go well, no matter what our age or stage of life.
Action:
Ask yourself: Is all well? Is my body healthy? Is my soul well? Be honest, choose one of your answers, and take one small step towards wellness in that area today.
