“Your perspective is either a prison or a passport.” I pondered these words throughout my workout this morning. Somedays we interrupt the music at the gym with a motivational recording. Today was one of those days. As I prepare for my next competition, the quality of my thoughts play a vital role in my training. We are ten weeks away from the event, so now is the time to assess my thoughts. What about you? Do you feel trapped in a prison of your own making? Or have you received your passport to an abundant life with a peace that passes understanding?
Prison or Passport?
How do we change our perspective from a prison to a passport?
1. By a total reformation of how we think.
“Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.” Romans 12:2 TPT
2. By filling our thoughts with heavenly realities.
“Yes, feast on all the treasures of the heavenly realm and fill your thoughts with heavenly realities, and not with the distractions of the natural realm.” Colossians 3:2 TPT
3. By protecting our thoughts from lies.
“Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies.” Ephesians 6:17 TPT
Our thoughts need a total reformation through focusing on heavenly realities, and protection from lies. Let me be honest with you, I have not mastered this way of thinking. This perspective shift is a work in progress for me. This morning I asked God to reveal the lies that I believe. I prayed for transformation and protection. In my prayers, I confessed my areas of stuckness and asked for wisdom, clarity, and boldness.
My Hope and Prayer
I hope and pray for a perspective shift. Popular culture would have us focus solely on manifesting the results we desire to achieve. But, as believers, it’s important that we adopt godly principles from His word to take our thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ. This action, if practiced as a daily spiritual discipline, will result in the passport we need to peace, power, and prosperity in our lives!
