Welcome to Pray, Sweat, Eat, Repeat. I’ve noticed several new names on my email list! So let me introduce myself. My name is Alida. I laugh really loud, and I cry easily. I’m an introvert who co-hosts a radio show. And I’m a worship leader who powerlifts. My favorite snack is popcorn. I can eat a whole watermelon by myself, but I’ll share it with you if you’d like a piece. I will stand my ground fiercely if I believe in the cause. And I’m no fan of surprises, but I love a well-thought-out gift. Listening is my superpower, but I refrain from giving input until I’m asked. And I love to chat over a hot cup of ginger tea. In this space, I write about faith, fitness, food, and focus. Pray, sweat, eat, repeat.
Pray. Sweat. Eat. Repeat.
Prayer is the connective tissue that binds, supports, and anchors our souls to God.
Our sweat is an elixir created by God to give youth and vigor to our bones.
Food is the fuel that empowers our bodies on the path to wellness.
And we repeat godly habits that support us as we carry out our purpose.
As I write, there are 116 days left until 2022. What wellness goals did you set for this current year? How are you progressing in your fitness journey? Where did you expect to see yourself by the end of this year? What have you learned about yourself over the past eight months?
Each week I end my posts with reflection questions and a prayer. Today I want to leave you with a passage of scripture, a recipe for my favorite tea, and an end-of-the-year challenge.
“Dear friend, I hope all is well with you
and that you are as healthy in body
as you are strong in spirit.” 3 John 1:2 (NLT)
Dear friend, how I wish I could sit down with you over a cup of hot tea and hear your story. I pray that all is well with you. I pray that your body is healthy and your spirit is strong.
Ginger Cinnamon Tea
Place 1 tbsp of freshly chopped ginger and 1/2 cinnamon stick in a tea infuser. Place the tea infuser in a cup of hot water, and allow it to steep for three to five minutes. Serve with your choice of sweetener. Enjoy!
End of the Year Challenge
Get out your journal, a pen, and a hot cup of the beverage of your choice. Write out 3 John 1:2. Then sit and sip for a while as you re-evaluate your wellness goals and make a new plan to achieve at least one of them by the end of the year!
