What’s in Your Smoothie?

Have you ever had a green smoothie?

I didn’t think I would like them as much as I do!  For the past month I’ve had one everyday.  One of the benefits for me is that I don’t have to think about what to make for at least one meal a day.  I’ve used several different combinations.  I’ve tried spinach, kale, and I’ve even used a combination of both. Personally, I prefer using spinach. It is much mellower than kale and when combined with other ingredients I can’t taste it.

Benefits of green smoothies

  1.  they help boost immunity
  2.  they help improve digestion
  3.  they help improve mental clarity and focus
  4.  they help increase consumption of fruit and vegetables
  5.  they help promote weight loss

My Recipe:

First choose  your greens. I used 1 1/2 cups of spinach.

Add liquid.  I use 1 cup of almond milk and blend.

Then choose your fruit. I used about a half cup of frozen strawberries and blend again.

Add some protein. I like to use a scoop or two of protein powder and one scoop of collagen and then blend for the last time.

If it’s after a workout I add in creatine. If I have it before my workout I’ll add in oats.  The choices of what to add in are totally up to you!
