My Sacred Anchor

90 minutes after sitting in the chair at the dentist’s office, I rise to leave with an anchor securely in place. The professionalism and excellent care by this all-female crew is impressive. It wasn’t part of my prayer request. However, I’m always grateful when God, my sacred Anchor, does more than I ask.

Four years ago, during the height of COVID, I had a tooth pulled. Today, I took the first step in filling that empty space with a dental implant. Now that the anchor is in place, a new tooth will be affixed to it after it heals.

We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself. Our anchor of hope is fastened to the mercy seat in the heavenly realm beyond the sacred threshold. Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭19‬ ‭TPT‬‬

We Have Hope

His mercy, grace, and love fasten our souls to the heavenly realms. This thought reminds us that we are blessed “with every spiritual blessing in the heavens in Christ.” One of those rich spiritual blessings is the Anchor.  Christ is the sacred Anchor who is strong enough to hold us through the most turbulent times.

As often as needed, I remind myself of the many ways my sacred Anchor of Hope provides. The God of Hope often brings peace and comfort to my circumstances. Reflecting on my time in the dentist’s chair, I smile. I know for sure that not just any hope will do. Because a misplaced hope quickly crumbles when things don’t go as expected.

Expectations are not a solid foundation to build on.

A hope built on Him and His word has spent time digging a deep foundation on the solid Rock to establish faith. God nurtures faith through His hand at work in the mundane events of our lives. And it is in those day-to-day situations where hope becomes an unbreakable unretractable anchor capable of holding our souls in a deep intimate connection with God.
