Appreciate the Outcome

Isn’t waiting supposed to get easier as we get older? Right now, I am leaning into God for strength.  Striving to appreciate the outcome, no matter what happens. My left leg is sore and swollen. If I take more than 4000 steps in a day, my leg begins throbbing. I’ve been to the doctor and have an ultrasound scheduled. The wait has been tough. I’ve prayed, fasted, and endured my way through the last few weeks of waiting. One more week to go.

Every outcome tells a story

Whether it’s physical healing, emotional growth, or spiritual maturity, the outcome reveals the direction God’s finger is pointing. That healing? That restored relationship? That renewed strength of the soul? It’s not random. It’s evidence of God’s fingerprints touching our lives.

When circumstances threaten to overtake us, it is tempting to get irritated with God. Or maybe that’s just me. Perhaps I’m the only one who questions His timing.

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time He will lift you up in honor. 1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

At the right time

His word puts me in my place and humbles me when I need it most. At the right time, He will release us from the waiting. As we trust Him with our eternity, may we trust Him in our right now. My Aunt Betty used to say, “Hallelujah anyhow.” She’s the one who modeled for me the principle of appreciating the outcome, no matter what. We celebrate or we gain wisdom. No matter how deep the pain, or how frustrating the situation, she would cling to the chorus of that old song.

“Hallelujah anyhow! I never let misfortune get me down. When obstacles are in my way, you will always hear me say, Hallelujah anyhow.

Hallelujah anyhow is how we appreciate the outcome. It means looking at the result not just for what it is, but for what it reveals:

  • A deeper dependence on God
  • A greater sensitivity to His voice
  • A refined character shaped by perseverance
  • A renewed understanding of our purpose

Appreciate the Outcome

If we look, we will see evidence of God’s presence in the process. We don’t always get the healing we expect. Sometimes we get strength instead. Or perspective. Or wisdom we couldn’t have learned any other way. Misfortune can’t win, because God cannot lose. Hallelujah!
