Joyful Gratitude

I began my journey from Belize to Dallas and then Dallas to Albuquerque on May 30th. But God had other plans for me on the second half of the trip. To make a LONG story short, there were four gate changes and seven time changes before my flight was eventually canceled. During that final two hours, I contacted my youngest brother because he owns a home in Dallas. Joyful gratitude filled my heart when my nephew picked me up from the airport. I felt grateful that an inconvenience gave me two days with family I hadn’t seen in four years. I felt that same type of gratitude when I finally reunited with my husband in Albuquerque after two days of delays.

Your Heart Can Soar

Your hearts can soar with joyful gratitude when you think of how God made you worthy to receive the glorious inheritance freely given to us by living in the light. Colossians‬ ‭1‬:‭12‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I used this verse in a reel on social media today. Gratefulness is an important part of maintaining my connection with God. But today I learned about the full power of joyful gratitude. It can make your heart soar! There are five things in this verse that I believe can bring our hearts to that place:

  1. Reflecting on Our Worth in Him: The verse highlights how God made us worthy to receive God’s inheritance. Pondering this worthiness and the loving sacrifice behind it can bring joy and lift our spirits.
  2. Celebrating God’s Gift: This inheritance is a gift freely given out of an abundance of grace. Allow God’s generosity to fan the flames of immense gratitude deep within our hearts.
  3. Living in the Light of Christ: Alignment with God’s word brings a deep sense of peace and purpose and will uplift our hearts.
  4. Appreciating God’s Creation: Take time to praise the way God created us. Thank Him for the love He has lavished on us.
  5. Connecting with Others Living in the Light: Feeling connected to the community of believers and the love shared within it brings joy and a sense of belonging, which uplifts our hearts.

My prayer is that our hearts will soar with joyful gratitude each day. I hope you’ll pray for my heart, as I pray for yours!
