When God says, “I Will”

When God says, “I will” lives are changed. He speaks these two simple power-packed words six times in Psalm 91.  His promises have been my lifeline lately. When my physical therapy brings me to tears, I pray using His words. This week, in the crevice of time, before the Advent season begins, I’ve been reading this passage aloud every morning;

“Because he has his heart set on me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. When he calls out to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor. I will satisfy him with a long life and show him my salvation.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭14‬-‭16‬ ‭CSB‬‬

Two Powerful Words, Six Promises

God’s ‘I will’ in these verses promises us deliverance, protection, answers, support, rescue, and satisfaction. Six promises that cover our needs, and wants. He provides an escape for us. He wraps His arms of protection around us. When we call, God responds. The support He provides during our times of distress is unwavering. And knowing that He will rescue us brings peace. Only He can satisfy us.  When God says, “I will,” He promises to be with us unconditionally. He will never leave us or forsake us. He will always be there for us, no matter what we are going through.

God’s “I will” is a declaration of His love, power, and faithfulness. When He speaks, He means what He says. We don’t have to let uncertainty and fear overtake us. God’s promises are a reminder that we have something to hold onto. No matter what storms we face, we can know that God is with us.

When we believe, claim, and trust in His promises, we can experience the peace and joy that comes from knowing that we are loved and provided for by God. We overcome because we know for certain that God is with us. So next time you’re feeling down or discouraged, remember that when God says “I will,” He means it.
