With a smile that lit up the room, she walked toward me, saying, “When I heard that a Ms. Sharp would be speaking, I didn’t know it would be you!” We were at a Girls’ Sleepover for her church, face-to-face, for the first time. We initially met online when she and her cohost interviewed me after a competition. Because it was for a secular morning show, my faith didn’t come up in conversation, so neither knew the other was a Christian. The realization formed an instant connection. What a precious moment!
Have you ever had an “I didn’t know it would be you” encounter?
“Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared! They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?
Their Eyes Were Opened
Two men on the road to Emmaus were walking and talking about all that had happened in Jerusalem. Jesus joined them and took an interest in their conversation. In the throes of sadness, they recounted to Jesus what had occurred three days prior. Meanwhile, they had no idea it was Him. Later, as they sat down to eat, He took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to them. Then suddenly, their eyes were opened! It was Him!
When we open our Bibles to engage with the One who said, “I Am the Bread,” God will bless our time in the Word, break it open, and give us exactly what we need. May He open our eyes to unseen connections. May our hearts swell with gratitude as we remember sacred moments when He revealed Himself in the past. And may we take comfort in knowing He will make His presence known time and time again.
