Go Tell It

I love how Christmas Eve invites us into a holy pause. The lights feel softer, the world feels quieter, and our hearts lean in toward wonder. It echoes the first Christmas, when the earth was still, and a heavenly choir arose. Angels, a host of them, have an incredible message to share, and they go tell it to the shepherds.

While Shepherds Kept Their Watching

Shepherds—ordinary people doing ordinary work—kept watch through the night (Luke 2:8). They weren’t expecting a heavenly visitation. Yet, they became the first witnesses to the most incredible news the world has ever known. God chose the unlikely (and the unnoticed) to receive an announcement that will change everything.

When Light breaks through the darkness, the shepherds are “terrified,” yet fear does not have the final word. God does not leave us trembling in the dark; He meets us with reassurance and grace.

And then there is the humility of it all. The Savior of the world was born into simplicity. Wrapped in cloths and laid in a manger, the King of Kings had entered the world. This is the quiet miracle of Christmas: God drawing near, not through power and spectacle, but through humility and love.

A song that echoes through generations carries a simple command: Go Tell It. After seeing the child, the shepherds “go tell it” with joy and wonder. Wonder turns into witness. Encounter turns into action.

Go Tell It

And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. ‭‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

To “go tell it” doesn’t require a mountain or a microphone. For us today,  it is as simple as sharing hope with someone who feels forgotten. It’s speaking peace into fear or empowering others with encouragement when needed.

May we be reminded that God still enters ordinary moments with extraordinary grace. And may we carry the joy of Christmas everywhere we go. Because the message is still true, hope has come. Christ is born!
