I love doing things my way. For powerlifters, our setups for each lift are a significant part of our technique. If you ever watch a powerlifting meet, each lifter has a noticeable ritual. If we have to make changes or adjustments, those would come well before the competition. Otherwise, anything new must wait until the off-season. However, in our spiritual lives, we must adapt to His way in His timing. After all, God’s way is perfect.
God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. For who is God except the Lord? Who but our God is a solid rock? God arms me with strength, and He makes my way perfect. Psalms 18:30-32 NLT
He Makes My Way Perfect
God’s way is perfect, and He alone can make our way perfect if we let Him. He makes our way perfect as we align ourselves with His word, His will, and His strength. Reading and re-reading Psalm 18 proves to be rich in comfort and restoration.
Then at your command, O Lord, at the blast of your breath, the bottom of the sea could be seen, and the foundations of the earth were laid bare. He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me. Psalms 18:15-17 NLT
This imagery of His powerful breath revealing the bottom of the sea and His merciful hand reaching down to rescue a child in trouble comforted me. His word helps me feel seen, loved, and valued in the depths of my soul.
The God of the universe intervenes when our situation feels unbearable. I can sink into a squat and rise to a standing position with over 200lbs on my back, but only God can lift my head when oppression from the enemy brings me to my knees.
His perfect way is the way of promise, protection, and peace. He is a shield, a rock, and a hand that reaches through the deep in times of need. He finds a way, no matter what our situation is. “His arm is not too short,” as my Big Mama used to say. May we experience the power of His breath revealing the recesses of our hearts to Him. And I pray this week that His hand will reach out and bring each one of us to safety and rest inside His protective grip.
*For those of you who prayer walk, seek His perfect way this week and follow it wholeheartedly.
